Dr. Udo W. Schmitt as the founder and head of UWScience received his Ph.D. from the University of Darmstadt, Germany.
After spending three years as postdoctoral researcher at the Henry Eyring Center for Theoretical Chemistry
at the University of Utah, USA, he worked around the turn of the millennium as a software consultant in San Francisco. Briefly after joining the
chair of Theoretical Chemistry in 2003 at the University of Bochum, Germany, he was offered a position at the Max-Planck
institute in Göttingen as a research group leader, which eventually inspired him to start UWScience in 2010
in the Munich area, Germany. His role as head scientist of UWScience is largely technical, with minimized involvement in operational,
bureaucratic and administrative management.
